Abstract

The search for efficiency through the allocation of resources is a major challenge for management in Health Economics in view of the constant need to prioritize actions and services with the best cost-effectiveness. Faced with this challenge, the Audit has been an important tool to support NHS management in the quest for compliance with the principles of efficiency, effectiveness and economy of public administration. With regard to these two issues alone, we see a very relevant scientific production, however, raises questions about the availability of technical and normative documents and technical-scientific about these issues in combination. This is justified by the need to validate the Audit tool and its application by the Health Economics. Therefore, this present study aimed to carry out a bibliometric study of scientific literature on health economics applied to the Audit SUS from the base data from the Virtual Library of Health. For this, we proceeded to a search on electronic databases (VHL and VHL / ECOS), using the descriptors available in DeCS. The bibliographic survey covered national publications available in its entirety related to main theme, from 2000 to 2010, identified 10 documents that comprised the study sample. The research findings were classified according to their theme and categorized methodological aspects. The results showed a lack of studies into this issue and the need for disclosure of reports as a factor of consolidation of public health work.
