Abstract

The decreased incidence of infectious diseases and increasing life expectancy, chronic diseases emerge as a problem to be overcome in this new millennium. Use the ways that are known to combat infectious diseases to chronic diseases do not show the desired results. Consequences arise in the rising cost of health care and quality of life of these patients. Thus, the objective is to analyze and understand the universe of chronic disease, presenting what we have today and discuss what can be done.
